Welcoming the Month of Months (Poem)

Farah Zahir - Sri Lanka

Look, the earth is singing!

the moon preparing, the stars shine in new radiance,

Tears fill my eyes, Tears fill my eyes,

Ramadan approaches.

Trees more humble, leaves aquiver in anticipation

the wind a glad tiding, a glad tiding

Passing in waves over the earth, a siren call

Ramadan is coming.

Earth's waters in constant motion

Now poised, to move for the moon rising in blessed periodicity

Waiting, oh spent up energy, to crash in a crescendo of Joy

Ramadan is nigh

Children's eyes widen

Babies hearts respond

To their Lord they left so recently,

And Angels descend in droves,

O Ramadan, O Ramadan,

Sent by the Creator, Creator of time.

Grace our lives. We prepare
