Al-Aqsa Foundation revealed photographs and videos of Israeli
violation of Islamic historical cemetery south of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Al-Aqsa Foundation for the Reconstruction of Islamic Sanctities
revealed in a statement that the Israeli Antiquities Authority and Elad settlement association violated an Islamic historical cemetery
located at the entrance of Silwan – south of Al-Aqsa mosque - carried out excavations and uncovered dozens of Muslim graves in the region.
According to Al-Aqsa Foundation, the direction and method of burial facing east and the Kaaba affirms that it is a historical Muslim cemetery. Al-Aqsa Foundation immediately contacted the Palestinians, Arab and Muslim countries in order to move quickly to save this historic cemetery and stop the violations.
A delegation from Al-Aqsa Foundation organized a field tour to the site of excavations in Wadi Halwa at the entrance of Silwan village - meters away south of Al-Aqsa mosque. The delegation was able to enter the excavation site where they found out that the Israeli Antiquities Authority and Elad settlement association carry out excavations that extends tens of meters during which dozens of Muslim graves have been uncovered and bones scattered over large areas of the cemetery.
The delegation has documented the Israeli crime by photographs and videos. Al-Aqsa Foundation received confirmation from reliable sources that the Israeli Antiquities Authority and its drilling ripped the bones and skeletons off the place, collected them in boxes and placed them in a warehouse near the excavation site. These skulls and bones of dead Muslims were transferred later to an unknown destinations.
Al-Aqsa Foundation said in its statement that what Israel's doing is
an abominable crime and a flagrant violation of the sanctity of dead Muslims buried in this cemetery, as it is a crime against
history, Islamic and Arabic civilization. It affirmed that Israel's crime aimed at obliterating all Islamic and Arab landmarks in Jerusalem in a feverish effort to Judaize Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque's surroundings and carry out a wide excavation to build a large commercial complex underground and above, in addition to digging a tunnel linking the Israeli shopping mall and Bab
Almaghareba.
Al-Aqsa Foundation said that it will appeal to the Arab officials, including the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf, the Waqf in Jerusalem, the Palestinian Authority, OIC and the Arab League and inform them about this Muslim cemetery in order to move quickly to save the Islamic cemetery and stop violating the sanctity of the dead Buried there.
